An excellent idea to re-use damaged woolen sweaters as wool is a natural fire retardant. Ideally the sweaters are felted (you can wash them in the washing machine at 60 degrees C and they will felt - but only if they are made of a minimum of 80% wool ). There is almost no explanation, alas. But it’s still easy to do.
